Andrew Miller, MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, has welcomed today’s excellent news about the future of Vauxhall.

Mr Miller said:

“The co-operation between the Labour Government, Unite the Trade Union and Vauxhall management has brought about this stunning success for Ellesmere Port.

“Following months of speculation, during which the key partners have worked closely with General Motors, today’s announcement that the Ellesmere Port plant will gear up for three shift production in 2011, thus protecting all of the jobs in Ellesmere Port, is wonderful news.

“The workforce should be congratulated for continuing to produce such high quality vehicles during this difficult period.  I can also say with confidence, having test driven the new Astra, that the quality of it is outstanding and it provides a secure platform from which the local company can go from strength to strength.”
