   Science & Technology Select Committee

The Committee scrutinises the Government Office for Science (GO-Science), which is a “semi-autonomous organisation”  based within the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).  The Committee has a broad remit and can examine the activities of departments where they have implications for, or made use of, science, engineering, technology and research. Andrew Miller was elected by the house of Commons to chair the committee during this Parliament. You can find a link to the Committee's work here: http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/science-and-technology-committee/

   International Year of Chemistry

Professor Hal Sosabowski from the University of Brighton conducts some exciting experiments at the UK launch of the IYC 2011.  Also, see the official launch of the SF6 Ark Royal and the ignition of the UK's largest test-tube barking dogs! These are just a couple of the fun events that can be seen at the following link when Andrew Miller hosted the launch of the International year of Chemistry in Parliament. http://www.rsc.org/Chemsoc/Activities/IYC/index.asp. The formal speeches from the evening are at http://www.rsc.org/ScienceAndTechnology/Parliament/Events/IYC-Launch.asp
